Healthy skin is important for overall body health

You already know that you don’t want to have clogged pores, but do you know why?  Healthy, clean pores are important for your skin and your overall health.   Your skin is the largest organ on your body and the pores are a significant part of that organ.  Do not ignore the fact that healthy skin is important for overall body health.

There are millions of pores on your body and each one is a potential trap for bacteria, dirt and oil.  The bacterial growth creates inflammation and you are left with a blemish.  Unfortunately, the blemish is sometimes touched and opened with an unclean hand and even more oil, dirt, and bacteria are introduced.  The problem is compounded and can create visible impressions.  Blemishes stretch out the pores creating larger pores or even scars.

Pores pump out oil and collect dead skin cells as a way of protecting against bacteria and virus becoming embedded.  Sometimes a pore becomes blocked (or occluded), trapping the oil and skin cells, along with some bacteria.  This will cause a breeding ground for the bacteria, which results in a blemish or acne.

Here are some ways to keep your pores clear:

  • Wash off your makeup before going to bed.
  • Wash your face regularly to reduce oil build-up.
  • Have a professional facial done regularly.

Keeping your pores clear will keep you looking younger and healthier for longer.
