Skin Care for Men

Hey Guys, listen up! Skin care is not just for women! Men need to put some effort into keeping their skin in top condition, too, to look good and feel good. A simple skin care routine will keep your skin clear from breakouts and protected from sun damage. Three easy steps can make a huge difference in helping you put your best face forward.

Cleanse

Washing your face is the first step to taking care of your skin. Choose a gentle cleanser that is targeted to your skin type. Most men tend to have oilier skin, so check out products designed for normal to oily skin. Avoid regular soap as it is too harsh and can strip your skin of its natural oils, drying it out and causing your body to overproduce oil to fix the problem. Wash twice a day, every morning and night. Even if you can’t see the dirt, you will be washing away all the gunk that you encounter in your daily life, like car exhaust, dirt, and pollution, that can lead to clogged pores and breakouts.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating is just a fancy word that means remove the dead skin cells that build up on your skin’s surface. These dead cells cause your complexion to be dull and trap pore-clogging particles. By removing the dead skin, you make your skin feel softer and more touchable. Your significant other will thank you! Choose a product that has particles that scrub away the dead skin leaving your face smooth and vibrant. Don’t worry that your routine is going to get complicated though, exfoliation only needs to be done once a week.

Moisturize

Moisturizing seems like a step that men can get away with skipping in their skin care routine, but men actually need moisturizer more than women. Why? Because every time you shave, you scrape off the oils that your skin produces, in addition to the hair you are trying to remove. Replace those oils with a good quality lotion to keep your face kissably soft. If you choose a moisturizer with SPF, you are gaining the benefit of sun protection at the same time. A lip balm with SPF is also important to keep your lips, an often overlooked, but sensitive bit of skin, smooth and protected.

Note: If your lotion does not include sun protection, you should add a fourth step to your routine and apply sunblock as well. If you are going to be outdoors, sunblock should be applied to all of your exposed skin, not just your face.

Now, men, does that seem so hard to do? No! Taking care of your skin is easy. With just a little effort and three easy steps, your face will be clean, smooth, and protected!
